Male hormone replacement experts at Internet Medical Clinics treat men that have low levels of testosterone such that it interferes with their health and quality of life. This hormone is important for various male characteristics such as body hair growth, sexual function and libido, mood, and development of reproductive organs. Symptoms of low testosterone include loss of interest in sex, loss of muscle and bone strength, sexual dysfunction, decreases exercise tolerance, decrease mental sharpness and memory, and depression.
This study examining the fluctuations and changes in hormones among fathers was conducted by anthropologists at Northwestern University and published in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. What they found was that testosterone levels decrease when men become fathers pointing to the importance of parental care in men.
What we have also heard about is the maternal instinct of women. This research may have important implications for what we consider the typical role of father and the biological nature of one. The findings suggest that men have biologically evolved in a way that makes it easier for them to commit to their families, reports experts.
Although a decrease in testosterone occurs in fathers it is nothing significant that affects male function or requires low testosterone treatment. The researchers believe that is it enough to bring out the paternal instinct in men.
